Congratulations! You've been selected to be a participant for the 2026 East Texas State Fair Mutton Bustin' competition for the rodeo!

Please complete your payment by Wednesday, September 9, to be confirmed as a participant and receive your discount code. If you have not paid by September 9, your spot will be forfeited, and an alternate will be selected.

Once discount codes are sent, you are responsible for purchasing tickets (including the participant). Please do not wait to purchase tickets as we expect the rodeo to sell out.

Monday, August 24 - Registration closes
Tuesday, September 1 - Notices for selection are emailed
Wednesday, September 9 - Payment due (Emails for discount codes will be sent as payment is completed)
Wednesday, September 16 - Email with information will be sent to all participants

Rules and Regulations

Get ready for a fun and exciting ride! Mutton Bustin’ is back and better than ever. Each chosen participant will receive a $75 discount code that can be used to purchase their tickets (you must purchase a participant's ticket).

Requirements

Ages: 5–7 years old (as of event date)
Weight Limit: 60 lbs. maximum
Participants: 12 riders per night, with 3 alternates selected
Cost: $50 (only paid if selected; due via cash, check, or card)

What to Wear (required)

Long pants
Long-sleeved shirt
Closed-toe shoes

All contestants are required to wear protective gear (helmet and vest), which will be provided by the Mutton Bustin’ Committee.
