Remaining items and premiums may be picked up in the Fair Office Tuesday, October 6 through Friday, October 9 and Monday, October 12 through Friday, October 16 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily. |

Rules and Regulations
All entries in the Department will be subject to the General
Rules and Regulations of the East Texas
State Fair.
- Due to Limited Space, entries will only be accepted from Smith County and Adjacent Counties.
- Every care will be taken of articles exhibited, but management will not be responsible for properties entered.
- No items will be accepted for display or competition that is distasteful, suggestive, offensive or controversial.
- All pieces for exhibit must be brought to the Arts & Craft Building. Entries will NOT be accepted by mail or other delivery.
- All articles, except antiques and collections, entered in competition in this department must have been made within the last two years, and can only be exhibited in the name of the maker.
- All food must have been canned since
October 2008, and must be in standard glass containers, such
as Mason, Ball and Kerr.
- There will be only one (1) jar per exhibitor in each class (quarts and pints Division A & B, Section A, Fruits and Vegetables) and (quarts, pints and 1/2 pints Division A & B, Section B, Pickles, Relishes, Jams, Jellies). There must be no rusted lids. All “screw rings” (rims) must be removed before entering. All vegetables and fruits entered must be below the liquid and 1/2 inch from the top of the jar. All jars must be clean on the outside. Jars with popped lids or open lids will not be accepted. All lids must be sealed closed. No personal names will be allowed on the jars. No warm jars will be accepted.
- See Special Food Preservation Awards provided to participants in Division A & B - Youth and Adult Canned Foods; provided compliments of Alltrista Consumer Products Company.Any articles that have previously been exhibited for competition during any East Texas State Fair will not be accepted.
- Any article that has previously been exhibited for competition during any East Texas State Fair will not be accepted for competition. Items that have taken a premium in a previous Fair may be displayed if space permits. Display will be at the discretion of the Division Coordinator.
- Each exhibitor is permitted only one entry in each class.
- Exhibitors must can their own products and do their own sewing and home improvements work for exhibit.
- Exhibitors entering articles in the Youth Division must be 17 years of age or younger.
- Teachers and commercial artists may place a card (calling card size) by their exhibit after judging.
- In the event there are less than three entries in a given class, the placing of each entry, whether first, second or third, will be left to the decision of the judges.
- Judges must not award a premium to any unworthy exhibit, regardless of the number of entries in a class. When fewer than 3 entries are entered in a class, similar classes may be combined and ribbons will be awarded at the discretion of the judges, but no premium payout will occur when the class is not a true competition.
- A fair and impartial arrangement of pictures and articles for advantageous showing will be made as far as conditions will permit. Due to limited space, all pictures MUST be framed and wired for hanging. Wood frames are preferred. Saw tooth hangers will NOT be accepted.
- A specimen must be an article entirely finished.
- All home improvement articles, such as quilts, rugs, etc., and all clothing must be clean. No article will be accepted that is soiled, shows wear, or is unfit for exhibition. All articles should be clean and free of smoke and odors.
- All exhibitors in this department are prohibited from removing their entries from the exhibit place. All entries must remain in place until Sunday, October 4 when they may be claimed by presentation of claim check to the Division Coordinator between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m.
- All items not claimed by October 16, 2009 become the property of the East Texas State Fair and will be disposed of at the discretion of Fair management.
